John Chapter 11
11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
11:2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
11:3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”
11:4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
11:6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
11:7 Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.”
11:8 The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?”
11:9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
11:10 “But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”
11:11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
11:12 Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.”
11:13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.
11:14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.
11:15 “And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”
11:16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”
11:17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
11:18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.
11:19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
11:20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.
11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
11:22 “But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”
11:23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
11:24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
11:26 “And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
11:27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
11:28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, “The Teacher has come and is calling for you.”
11:29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him.
11:30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him.
11:31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.”
11:32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
11:33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.
11:34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”
11:35 Jesus wept.
11:36 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him”
11:37 And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?”
11:38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
11:39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
11:40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
11:42 “And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”
11:43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth”
11:44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
11:45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
11:46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.
11:47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.
11:48 “If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”
11:49 And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,
11:50 “nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.”
11:51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
11:52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.
11:53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.
11:54 Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.
11:55 And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.
11:56 Then they sought Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, “What do you think-that He will not come to the feast?”
11:57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.

John Chapter 12
12:1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.
12:2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
12:3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
12:4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,
12:5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.
12:7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.
12:8 “For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
12:9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
12:10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,
12:11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.
12:12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
12:13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna’Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord’ The King of Israel”
12:14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
12:15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
12:16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.
12:17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness.
12:18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign.
12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him”
12:20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast.
12:21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
12:22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
12:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
12:25 “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
12:26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
12:27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.
12:28 “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
12:29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”
12:30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake.
12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
12:32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”
12:33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
12:34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”
12:35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.
12:36 “While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.
12:37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him,
12:38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:
12:40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.”
12:41 These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
12:42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
12:43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.
12:45 “And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.
12:46 “I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
12:47 “And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him-the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
12:49 “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
12:50 “And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

John 9:1 – John 10:42

Summary Verses
9:1 Jesus gives sight to a blind man on the Sabbath day. 9:13 The Pharisees question the man who received sight, because they hated Jesus. 9:22 The man was cast out of the Synagogue because he would not deny Jesus. 9:36 Jesus speaks with the man and gives him the knowledge of everlasting life. 10:1 Jesus shows that the Pharisees are the wicked shepherds. 10:8 And the He, Christ is the Good Shepherd. 10:18 Jesus tells the Pharisees that no man can take His life; but he alone has the power to lay down His life and pick it up again. 10:30 Jesus tells them that He and the Father are one, the Jews take up stones to stone Him. 10:40 Jesus went again into the area beyond the Jordan where John first baptized.

John Chapter 9
9:1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
9:2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
9:3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
9:4 “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
9:5 “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
9:6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
9:7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
9:8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
9:9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.” He said, “I am he.”
9:10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”
9:11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”
9:12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.”
9:13 They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees.
9:14 Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.
9:15 Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”
9:16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.
9:17 They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
9:18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.
9:19 And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
9:20 His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
9:21 “but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”
9:22 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
9:23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
9:24 So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory We know that this Man is a sinner.”
9:25 He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
9:26 Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”
9:27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
9:28 Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.
9:29 “We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”
9:30 The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes
9:31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.
9:32 “Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.
9:33 “If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
9:34 They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.
9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
9:36 He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”
9:37 And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”
9:38 Then he said, “Lord, I believe” And he worshiped Him.
9:39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”
9:40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”
9:41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

John Chapter 10
10:1 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10:2 “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3 “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
10:4 “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
10:5 “Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
10:6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.
10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
10:8 “All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
10:12 “But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
10:13 “The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.
10:14 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
10:15 “As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
10:16 “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
10:17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.
10:18 “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
10:19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings.
10:20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?”
10:21 Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
10:22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch.
10:24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
10:25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.
10:26 “But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
10:28 “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
10:29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
10:30 “I and My Father are one.”
10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
10:32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
10:33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
10:34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ‘?
10:35 “If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
10:36 “do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
10:37 “If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;
10:38 “but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”
10:39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.
10:40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed.
10:41 Then many came to Him and said, “John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.”
10:42 And many believed in Him there.

John Chapter 7
7:1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
7:2 Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
7:3 His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing.
7:4 “For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.”
7:5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
7:6 Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7:7 “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
7:8 “You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.”
7:9 When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
7:10 But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
7:11 Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?”
7:12 And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.”
7:13 However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
7:14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
7:15 And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
7:16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
7:17 “If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
7:18 “He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.
7:19 “Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?”
7:20 The people answered and said, “You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?”
7:21 Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel.
7:22 “Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
7:23 “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?
7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
7:25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to kill?
7:26 “But look He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ?
7:27 “However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”
7:28 Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, “You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
7:29 “But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
7:30 Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
7:31 And many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”
7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.
7:33 Then Jesus said to them, “I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to Him who sent Me.
7:34 “You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come.”
7:35 Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
7:36 “What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come’?”
7:37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
7:40 Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.”
7:41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee?
7:42 “Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”
7:43 So there was a division among the people because of Him.
7:44 Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
7:45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”
7:46 The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this Man”
7:47 Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived?
7:48 “Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?
7:49 “But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”
7:50 Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,
7:51 “Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”
7:52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”
7:53 And everyone went to his own house.

John Chapter 8
8:1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
8:2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.
8:3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,
8:4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.
8:5 “Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”
8:6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.
8:7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”
8:8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
8:9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
8:10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
8:11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
8:13 The Pharisees therefore said to Him, “You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.”
8:14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.
8:15 “You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.
8:16 “And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me.
8:17 “It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.
8:18 “I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.”
8:19 Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”
8:20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.
8:21 Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.”
8:22 So the Jews said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?”
8:23 And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
8:25 Then they said to Him, “Who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
8:26 “I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.”
8:27 They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.
8:29 “And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”
8:30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.
8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
8:33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will be made free’?”
8:34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
8:35 “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
8:37 “I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.
8:38 “I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.”
8:39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
8:40 “But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
8:41 “You do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father-God.”
8:42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
8:43 “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
8:45 “But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.
8:46 “Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?
8:47 “He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
8:48 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
8:49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.
8:50 “And I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges.
8:51 “Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”
8:52 Then the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.’
8:53 “Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?”
8:54 Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God.
8:55 “Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, ‘I do not know Him,’ I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word.
8:56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
8:57 Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
8:59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

John 5:1 – John 6:71

Summary Verses
5:2 Jesus heals the crippled man lying at the pool Bethesda. 5:5 Jesus healed the crippled man on the Sabbath. 5:10 The Jewish leaders try to accuse Jesus of blasphemy because He healed on the Sabbath. 5:17 Jesus rebukes the Jewish leaders because like God His father He too is working. 5:45 Even Moses the patriarch will accuse the generation Jesus is speaking to because they did not believe on the Messiah. 6:5 Five thousand not counting women and children with five loaves and two fish. 6:15 Jesus departs from the people because He perceives they want to make Him king. 6:17 Jesus walks on the water as He comes to His disciples on the Sea of Galilee. 6:26 Jesus tells the people they are following Him because they were fed, they should follow Him because He is their salvation. 6:35 Jesus tells the crowd He is the bread of life. 6:41 The Jews murmured against Him because He said He is the bread of life come down from God the Father. 6:60 To many of His disciples this was a hard saying. 6:69 The Apostles confess to Jesus that He is indeed the Son of God.

John Chapter 5
5:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.
5:3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.
5:4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.
5:5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.
5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
5:7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
5:8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”
5:9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.
5:10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
5:11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.'”
5:12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”
5:13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.
5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
5:15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
5:16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.
5:17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”
5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
5:20 “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
5:21 “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
5:22 “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
5:23 “that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
5:25 “Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
5:26 “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
5:27 “and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
5:28 “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
5:29 “and come forth-those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
5:30 “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
5:31 “If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.
5:32 “There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true.
5:33 “You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.
5:34 “Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved.
5:35 “He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.
5:36 “But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish-the very works that I do-bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.
5:37 “And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.
5:38 “But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.
5:39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
5:40 “But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
5:41 “I do not receive honor from men.
5:42 “But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.
5:43 “I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
5:44 “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?
5:45 “Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you-Moses, in whom you trust.
5:46 “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.
5:47 “But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

John Chapter 6
6:1 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.
6:2 Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.
6:3 And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.
6:4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near.
6:5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”
6:6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
6:7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
6:8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,
6:9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
6:10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
6:11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
6:12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”
6:13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
6:15 Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
6:16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
6:17 got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
6:18 Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing.
6:19 So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.
6:20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
6:21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.
6:22 On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone-
6:23 however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks-
6:24 when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
6:25 And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?”
6:26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
6:27 “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
6:28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
6:30 Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do?
6:31 “Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'”
6:32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
6:33 “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
6:34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
6:36 “But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.
6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
6:38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
6:39 “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
6:40 “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
6:41 The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”
6:42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”
6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves.
6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:45 “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.
6:46 “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father.
6:47 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
6:48 “I am the bread of life.
6:49 “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
6:50 “This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
6:51 “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
6:52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”
6:53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
6:54 “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:55 “For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
6:56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
6:57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.
6:58 “This is the bread which came down from heaven-not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
6:59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
6:60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”
6:61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?
6:62 “What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?
6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
6:64 “But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.
6:65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
6:67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
6:69 “Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
6:70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
6:71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

John 3:1 – John 4:54

Summary Verses
3:1 Jesus teaches Nicodemus the very principles of Christian regeneration through faith in Him. 3:14 Jesus tells the story of Moses lifting up and serpent in the wilderness for the saving of the people, and so must Christ be lifted upon the cross for the salvation of man. 3:23 John the Baptist, baptizes Jesus in the wilderness. 3:27 John the Baptist tells others he is not the Christ; but Jesus is and to follow Jesus. 4:6 Jesus meets the women at the well in Samaria. 4:21 Jesus teaches her the true worship of God. 4:26 He confesses to her that He is the Messiah. 4:39 The women tells others and the Samaritans believe on Jesus. 4:46 Jesus heals the sick son of one of the rulers of Capernaum.

John Chapter 3
3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
3:2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
3:4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
3:7 “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
3:8 “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
3:9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
3:10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?
3:11 “Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.
3:12 “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
3:13 “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
3:14 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
3:15 “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
3:21 “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
3:22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized.
3:23 Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.
3:24 For John had not yet been thrown into prison.
3:25 Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.
3:26 And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified-behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him”
3:27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
3:28 “You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’
3:29 “He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.
3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease.
3:31 “He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
3:32 “And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.
3:33 “He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.
3:34 “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
3:35 “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.
3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

John Chapter 4
4:1 Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John
4:2 (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),
4:3 He left Judea and departed again to Galilee.
4:4 But He needed to go through Samaria.
4:5 So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
4:6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
4:7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”
4:8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
4:9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
4:11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?
4:12 “Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
4:14 “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
4:15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
4:16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
4:17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’
4:18 “for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
4:19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
4:20 “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”
4:21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
4:22 “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
4:23 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
4:25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”
4:26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
4:27 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”
4:28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men,
4:29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
4:30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him.
4:31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
4:32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”
4:33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”
4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
4:35 “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest
4:36 “And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
4:37 “For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
4:38 “I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.”
4:40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
4:41 And many more believed because of His own word.
4:42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
4:43 Now after the two days He departed from there and went to Galilee.
4:44 For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
4:45 So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they also had gone to the feast.
4:46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
4:47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
4:48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”
4:49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies”
4:50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
4:51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives”
4:52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
4:53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.
4:54 This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.

John Chapter 1
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
1:5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.
1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
1:9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
1:11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
1:13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1:15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.'”
1:16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
1:19 Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
1:20 He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”
1:21 And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.”  “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”
1:22 Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”
1:23 He said: “I am’The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” ‘ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
1:24 Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.
1:25 And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
1:26 John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.
1:27 “It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.”
1:28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world
1:30 “This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’
1:31 “I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.”
1:32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.
1:33 “I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
1:34 “And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”
1:35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.
1:36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God”
1:37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
1:38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are You staying?”
1:39 He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).
1:40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
1:41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).
1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone).
1:43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.”
1:44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
1:45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
1:46 And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit”
1:48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
1:49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God You are the King of Israel”
1:50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
1:51 And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

John Chapter 2
2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2:2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
2:3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
2:4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
2:5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
2:6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
2:7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
2:8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.
2:9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
2:10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now”
2:11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.
2:13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2:14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business.
2:15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables.
2:16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise”
2:17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”
2:18 So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”
2:19 Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
2:20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”
2:21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body.
2:22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.
2:24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men,
2:25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.

Luke 23:1 – Luke 24:53

Luke Chapter 23
23:1 Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.
23:2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
23:3 Then Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him and said, “It is as you say.”
23:4 So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.”
23:5 But they were the more fierce, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.”
23:6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked if the Man were a Galilean.
23:7 And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
23:8 Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.
23:9 Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.
23:10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him.
23:11 Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.
23:12 That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.
23:13 Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,
23:14 said to them, “You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him;
23:15 “no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.
23:16 “I will therefore chastise Him and release Him”
23:17 (for it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast).
23:18 And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas”
23:19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.
23:20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.
23:21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him”
23:22 Then he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.”
23:23 But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed.
23:24 So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.
23:25 And he released to them the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
23:26 Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.
23:27 And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him.
23:28 But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
23:29 “For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed’
23:30 “Then they will begin ‘to say to the mountains, “Fall on us” and to the hills, “Cover us” ‘
23:31 “For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”
23:32 There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death.
23:33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.
23:35 And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”
23:36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,
23:37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”
23:38 And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
23:39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
23:40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
23:41 “And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
23:42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
23:44 Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
23:45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.
23:46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.'” Having said this, He breathed His last.
23:47 So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man”
23:48 And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.
23:49 But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
23:50 Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.
23:51 He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God.
23:52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
23:53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.
23:54 That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.
23:55 And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.
23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Luke Chapter 24
24:1 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
24:2 But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
24:3 Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
24:4 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.
24:5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
24:6 “He is not here, but is risen Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,
24:7 “saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'”
24:8 And they remembered His words.
24:9 Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.
24:11 And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.
24:12 But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.
24:13 Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem.
24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
24:15 So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
24:16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.
24:17 And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?”
24:18 Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?”
24:19 And He said to them, “What things?” So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
24:20 “and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him.
24:21 “But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.
24:22 “Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.
24:23 “When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.
24:24 “And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.”
24:25 Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken
24:26 “Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?”
24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
24:28 Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther.
24:29 But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.
24:30 Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
24:31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
24:32 And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
24:33 So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,
24:34 saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon”
24:35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
24:36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.”
24:37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.
24:38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
24:39 “Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
24:40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
24:41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?”
24:42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
24:43 And He took it and ate in their presence.
24:44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”
24:45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
24:46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,
24:47 “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
24:48 “And you are witnesses of these things.
24:49 “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
24:50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
24:51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
24:52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
24:53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.

Luke Chapter 22
22:1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover.
22:2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.
22:3 Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
22:4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.
22:5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.
22:6 So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.
22:7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.
22:8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
22:9 So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”
22:10 And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters.
22:11 “Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ‘
22:12 “Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
22:13 So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
22:14 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.
22:15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
22:16 “for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
22:17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves;
22:18 “for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
22:19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
22:20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
22:21 “But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table.
22:22 “And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed”
22:23 Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.
22:24 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.
22:25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
22:26 “But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.
22:27 “For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.
22:28 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.
22:29 “And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me,
22:30 “that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
22:31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
22:32 “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
22:33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
22:34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
22:35 And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”
22:36 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.
22:37 “For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”
22:38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
22:39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.
22:40 When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
22:41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,
22:42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
22:43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
22:44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
22:45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.
22:46 Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
22:47 And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.
22:48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
22:49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
22:50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
22:51 But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
22:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs?
22:53 “When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
22:54 Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance.
22:55 Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.
22:56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.”
22:57 But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
22:58 And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not”
22:59 Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean.”
22:60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.
22:61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
22:62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.
22:63 Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.
22:64 And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy Who is the one who struck You?”
22:65 And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.
22:66 As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying,
22:67 “If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will by no means believe.
22:68 “And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go.
22:69 “Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”
22:70 Then they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?” So He said to them, “You rightly say that I am.”
22:71 And they said, “What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

Luke Chapter 20
20:1 Now it happened on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel, that the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, confronted Him
20:2 and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”
20:3 But He answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one thing, and answer Me:
20:4 “The baptism of John-was it from heaven or from men?”
20:5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
20:6 “But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”
20:7 So they answered that they did not know where it was from.
20:8 And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
20:9 Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time.
20:10 “Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vinedressers beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
20:11 “Again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.
20:12 “And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also and cast him out.
20:13 “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.’
20:14 “But when the vinedressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’
20:15 “So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
20:16 “He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.” And when they heard it they said, “Certainly not”
20:17 Then He looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone’?
20:18 “Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”
20:19 And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people-for they knew He had spoken this parable against them.
20:20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.
20:21 Then they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:
20:22 “Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
20:23 But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test Me?
20:24 “Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” They answered and said, “Caesar’s.”
20:25 And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
20:26 But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent.
20:27 Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,
20:28 saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife, and he dies without children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.
20:29 “Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and died without children.
20:30 “And the second took her as wife, and he died childless.
20:31 “Then the third took her, and in like manner the seven also; and they left no children, and died.
20:32 “Last of all the woman died also.
20:33 “Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become? For all seven had her as wife.”
20:34 And Jesus answered and said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage.
20:35 “But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;
20:36 “nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
20:37 “But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
20:38 “For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”
20:39 Then some of the scribes answered and said, “Teacher, You have spoken well.”
20:40 But after that they dared not question Him anymore.
20:41 And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David?
20:42 “Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,
20:43 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ‘
20:44 “Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?”
20:45 Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples,
20:46 “Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts,
20:47 “who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

Luke Chapter 21
21:1 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,
21:2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.
21:3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all;
21:4 “for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
21:5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
21:6 “These things which you see-the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.”
21:7 So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
21:8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them.
21:9 “But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
21:10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
21:11 “And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
21:12 “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.
21:13 “But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
21:14 “Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
21:15 “for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.
21:16 “You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.
21:17 “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.
21:18 “But not a hair of your head shall be lost.
21:19 “By your patience possess your souls.
21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
21:21 “Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.
21:22 “For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
21:23 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
21:24 “And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;
21:26 “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken.
21:27 “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
21:28 “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
21:29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
21:30 “When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.
21:31 “So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
21:32 “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.
21:33 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
21:34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.
21:35 “For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
21:36 “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
21:37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.
21:38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

18:2 The parable of the unrighteous judge and the widow. 18:10 The parable of the Pharisee and the Publican who go to the Temple to pray. 18:15 Children are of the kingdom of Heaven. 18:22 To follow Christ is to sell all and give to the poor. 18:28 The Apostles forsake all to follow Christ. 18:31 Jesus tells of His coming death and resurrection. 18:35 The blind man receives sight. 19:2 Jesus meets Zacchaeus the chief publican. 19:13 The parable of the talents of money. 19:41 Jesus weeps over Jerusalem. 19:45 Jesus cast the sellers out of the Temple.

Luke Chapter 18
18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
18:2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.
18:3 “Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’
18:4 “And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,
18:5 ‘yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.'”
18:6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.
18:7 “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?
18:8 “I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
18:9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
18:10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
18:11 “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
18:12 ‘I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
18:13 “And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner’
18:14 “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
18:15 Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
18:16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.
18:17 “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
18:18 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
18:19 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
18:20 “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.'”
18:21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.”
18:22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
18:23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
18:24 And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God
18:25 “For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
18:26 And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?”
18:27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
18:28 Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.”
18:29 So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
18:30 “who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”
18:31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.
18:32 “For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon.
18:33 “They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”
18:34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.
18:35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.
18:36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.
18:37 So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
18:38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me”
18:39 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me”
18:40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,
18:41 saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
18:42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”
18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Luke Chapter 19
19:1 Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
19:2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
19:3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.
19:4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.
19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
19:6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully.
19:7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”
19:8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
19:9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;
19:10 “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
19:11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately.
19:12 Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
19:13 “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’
19:14 “But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
19:15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
19:16 “Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’
19:17 “And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’
19:18 “And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’
19:19 “Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’
19:20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief.
19:21 ‘For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’
19:22 “And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.
19:23 ‘Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
19:24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’
19:25 (“But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’)
19:26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
19:27 ‘But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.'”
19:28 When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
19:29 And it came to pass, when He came near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples,
19:30 saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.
19:31 “And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.'”
19:32 So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them.
19:33 But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?”
19:34 And they said, “The Lord has need of him.”
19:35 Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.
19:36 And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.
19:37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,
19:38 saying: ” ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest”
19:39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
19:40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
19:41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,
19:42 saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace But now they are hidden from your eyes.
19:43 “For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,
19:44 “and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
19:45 Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
19:46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.'”
19:47 And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him,
19:48 and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.
