2nd Thessalonians Chapter 3 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, 3:2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. 3:5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. 3:6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. 3:7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; 3:8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, 3:9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 3:11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 3:12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. 3:13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. 3:14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 3:15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. 3:17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every epistle; so I write. 3:18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
1st Timothy Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope, 1:2 To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 1:3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia-remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 1:4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 1:6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm. 1:8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 1:9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, 1:11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 1:13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1:16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 1:19 having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, 1:20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.
1st Timothy Chapter 2 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2:2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 2:6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 2:7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle-I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying-a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 2:8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 2:9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 2:10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 2:11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 2:12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 2:13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 2:15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
1st Timothy Chapter 3 3:1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3:3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 3:4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 3:5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 3:6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 3:7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 3:8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 3:9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 3:10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 3:11 Likewise their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 3:12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 3:13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 3:14 These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 3:15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
Summary Verses 4:1 Paul exhorts the Thessalonians to grow more in Christ and continue in Him. 4:3 And continue in holiness. 4:9 And continue in brotherly love for one another. 4:13 Paul encourages them not to sorrow for Christians who have died. 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend with a shout and the dead in Christ shall rise first followed by we who are alive to meet the Lord in the air. 5:1 Paul tells them not worry about the times and seasons as they relate to the return of Jesus. 5:2 The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night when least expected. 5:11 Therefore exhort one another and keep each other strong in the faith of Christ. 1:3 Paul commends the Thessalonians because their faith in Christ, their love for Him and each other continues to grow. 1:5 Paul encourages them to be strong in suffering persecution because God will avenge His children. 1:10 Paul commends them to be strong, because we shall glorified when He returns. 2:2 Paul comforts them, tells them no longer to worry about the day of the Lord because it shall not come until the great apostasy comes first. 2:3 And that the Anti-Christ must first be revealed before the return of Christ. 2:8 Then the Anti-Christ will be revealed first, whom the Lord shall destroy with His word. 2:15 Therefore brethren stand fast in the Lord, keep strong in the faith and instruction.
1st Thessalonians Chapter 4 4:1 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; 4:2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4:4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 4:5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 4:6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 4:7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 4:8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit. 4:9 But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 4:10 and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; 4:11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, 4:12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. 4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 4:18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
1st Thessalonians Chapter 5 5:1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 5:3 For when they say, “Peace and safety” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 5:7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 5:8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. 5:12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 5:13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 5:15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. 5:16 Rejoice always, 5:17 pray without ceasing, 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit. 5:20 Do not despise prophecies. 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. 5:22 Abstain from every form of evil. 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 5:24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 5:25 Brethren, pray for us. 5:26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
2nd Thessalonians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 1:4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 1:5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 1:6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 1:7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 1:8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 1:10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. 1:11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 1:12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2nd Thessalonians Chapter 2 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2:2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 2:5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 2:6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 2:8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 2:9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 2:10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2:11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 2:12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 2:14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 2:17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

Colossians Chapter 4 4:1 Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4:4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. 4:7 Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me. 4:8 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that he may know your circumstances and comfort your hearts, 4:9 with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you all things which are happening here. 4:10 Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him), 4:11 and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me. 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 4:13 For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis. 4:14 Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you. 4:15 Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house. 4:16 Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. 4:17 And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” 4:18 This salutation by my own hand-Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen.
1st Thessalonians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, 1:3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 1:4 knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God. 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. 1:6 And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, 1:7 so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. 1:8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. 1:9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
1st Thessalonians Chapter 2 2:1 For you yourselves know, brethren, that our coming to you was not in vain. 2:2 But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict. 2:3 For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit. 2:4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts. 2:5 For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness-God is witness. 2:6 Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. 2:7 But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. 2:8 So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us. 2:9 For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God. 2:10 You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; 2:11 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, 2:12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. 2:13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. 2:14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans, 2:15 who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men, 2:16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost. 2:17 But we, brethren, having been taken away from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored more eagerly to see your face with great desire. 2:18 Therefore we wanted to come to you-even I, Paul, time and again-but Satan hindered us. 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 2:20 For you are our glory and joy.
1st Thessalonians Chapter 3 3:1 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone, 3:2 and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, 3:3 that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. 3:4 For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know. 3:5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain. 3:6 But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you 3:7 therefore, brethren, in all our affliction and distress we were comforted concerning you by your faith. 3:8 For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord. 3:9 For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God, 3:10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith? 3:11 Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you. 3:12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 3:13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
Summary Verses 1:1 Paul’s opening salutation and praise toward the Colossian church. 1:7 Paul speaks to them regarding the good report he received from Epaphras regarding their faith in Christ. 1:13 Paul tells the church he continues to give thanks to God the Father for their faith and love of Christ. 1:20 Paul shows them that all parts of our salvation consist in Christ alone. 2:4 Paul commends them and encourages them to walk in Christ and not to be beguiled by false teachers in the flesh. 2:16 Paul warns them to beware legalism and not to let false teachers condemn them regarding rituals, festivals or what they eat. 2:18 Paul warns them against false teachers who would have them worship angels, they are not to do so. 2:20 Paul reminds them never to forget we are delivered from the traditions of the Law by Christ. 3:1 Paul tells them if they have been saved by Christ then set their eyes on Him alone and not on earthly false teachers. 3:5 Paul tells them to mortify the flesh and not given in to fleshly desires e.g. evil, fornication and uncleanness. 3:8 To put away maliciousness, filthy speech and cursing. 3:18 Husbands and wives are to submit themselves to one another in a godly fashion.
Colossians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 1:4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 1:5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 1:6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; 1:7 as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, 1:8 who also declared to us your love in the Spirit. 1:9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 1:10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 1:11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 1:12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 1:17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 1:22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. 1:24 I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church, 1:25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, 1:26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 1:28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 1:29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.
Colossians Chapter 2 2:1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 2:4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 2:5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. 2:6 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 2:7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 2:10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. 2:11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 2:12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 2:16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 2:17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 2:18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 2:19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. 2:20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations 2:21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 2:22 which all concern things which perish with the using-according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 2:23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Colossians Chapter 3 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 3:4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 3:6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 3:7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 3:8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 3:11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 3:13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. 3:18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. 3:22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 3:25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.
Summary Verses 2:1 Paul exhorts the Philippians above all things to be like minded in humility, love following the example of Christ Jesus. 2:19 Paul promises to send Timothy shortly to them to help lead them. 2:26 And he apologies for the long tarrying of Epaphroditus from them, because he was in the service of the Lord with Paul. 3:2 Paul warns them once again to beware the false teachers and their boasting because they are not of the Lord. 3:9 We are to be found in Christ, not by our own righteousness but by His. Paul is setting out the force and nature of our faith. 3:15 That laying all things aside we are partakers of the cross of Christ. 3:18 We do so knowing there are many who walk about as enemies of the cross of Christ. 4:1 Paul exhorts them with his love and compassion for them to continue in the Lord and be strengthened in the spirit. 4:10 Paul rejoices greatly in their desire to help him, though they are poor. 4:12 And that through Christ and their love for him, he will patiently endure the need.
Philippians Chapter 2 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 2:4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 2:6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 2:14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 2:15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 2:16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. 2:17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 2:18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me. 2:19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. 2:20 For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. 2:22 But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel. 2:23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me. 2:24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly. 2:25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need; 2:26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 2:27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 2:28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful. 2:29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem; 2:30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
Philippians Chapter 3 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, 3:4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 3:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 3:6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 3:11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 3:12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 3:14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 3:15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 3:16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 3:18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 3:19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame-who set their mind on earthly things. 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 3:21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Philippians Chapter 4 4:1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 4:2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 4:3 And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice 4:5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. 4:9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. 4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 4:11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 4:12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 4:14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. 4:15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 4:16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 4:17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 4:18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 4:20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. 4:21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. 4:22 All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household. 4:23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Summary Verses 5:3 Paul exhorts them to not let the sins which mark the unbelievers be found among the church. 5:5 Paul reminds them that such sins and those who commit them have no inheritance in the kingdom of God. 5:15 Paul exhorts them to be wise and not to walk as fools following the ways of the wicked. 5:22 Husbands and wives are to submit themselves to one another, husbands are the head of the household using honor and wisdom to love their families. 6:1 Paul tells the children to obey their parents in the Lord for this is right. 6:10 Paul reminds the Ephesians to put on the whole armor of God because of the spiritual warfare waged against us. 6:12 Paul ends his letter by commending Tychicus a brother in the faith whom Paul will send to them. 1:3 Paul testifies of his godly affection and concern toward the Philippians. 1:12 Paul explains what has happened to him is the providence of God to further the Gospel of Christ. 1:22 Paul is torn to live is gain because he can continue preaching the Gospel or to die which then he will be with Jesus whom he loves. 1:27 Paul exhorts them to be of one mind in Christ, and let their speech be becoming to Jesus. 1:28 And do not fear their adversaries who are rebellion against God, because they have the salvation of the saints.
Ephesians Chapter 5 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. 5:3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 5:4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5:5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 5:7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 5:10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 5:14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” 5:15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 5:16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 5:20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:21 submitting to one another in the fear of God. 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 5:24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 5:27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 5:28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 5:29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 5:30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 5:31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 5:32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 5:33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Ephesians Chapter 6 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 6:2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 6:3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. 6:5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6:6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 6:7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 6:8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. 6:9 And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints 6:19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 6:21 But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you; 6:22 whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts. 6:23 Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 6:24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
Philippians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 1:4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 1:5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 1:7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 1:8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 1:10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 1:11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. 1:12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 1:13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 1:14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from good will: 1:16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 1:17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 1:18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. 1:19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 1:22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 1:23 For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 1:24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 1:25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, 1:26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 1:28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 1:29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 1:30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
Summary Verses 2:1 Paul reminds the Ephesians that previously they were dead in their trespasses and sins and now they are alive to Christ Jesus. 2:5 Even though they were dead, Jesus has quickened them to salvation, by whose grace they are saved. 2:8 Paul calls them to remember we are saved by grace, through faith not by works lest any should boast. 2:16 They were afar off from God, but Jesus has reconciled them back to God through His grace. 3:1 Paul reminds them that for this cause and for their growth he personally has suffered many things including prison. 3:3 He was imprisoned for preaching the salvation of God and His grace to Gentiles such as themselves. 3:8 He has done so at the commandment of God to go and preach salvation to the Gentiles. 3:13 Therefore they should be strengthened and not fain at afflictions for the cross of Christ Jesus. 3:14 And for this cause Paul prayers for them without ceasing. 3:18 That they may understand the great love of Christ for them. 4:1 Paul exhorts the Ephesians to mutual love with long suffering, humbleness of mind, supporting one another in Christ Jesus. 4:7 The gifts of God have been bestowed upon them and every believer. 4:16 That the church may be built up. 4:18 Paul encourages them not to walk in the darkness as Gentiles do, but seek after Christ.
Ephesians Chapter 2 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2:2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 2:7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. 2:11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh-who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands 2:12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 2:15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 2:16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 2:17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. 2:19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 2:20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 2:21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 2:22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Ephesians Chapter 3 3:1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles 3:2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3:3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 3:4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 3:5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 3:6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, 3:7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. 3:8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 3:9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 3:11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. 3:13 Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 3:15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 3:17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height 3:19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 3:21 to him be glory in the assembly in Christ Jesus unto all generations of the age of ages. Amen).
Ephesians Chapter 4 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 4:2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 4:8 Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” 4:9 (Now this, “He ascended”-what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 4:10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. 4:17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 4:18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 4:19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 4:20 But you have not so learned Christ, 4:21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 4:22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 4:23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. 4:25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. 4:26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 4:27 nor give place to the devil. 4:28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
Summary Verses 5:1 Paul explains that through Jesus we are free, therefore do not get tangled again in the Law. 5:13 By Jesus we have been called into liberty, let’s not use that liberty for an occasion unto the flesh. 5:16 That we should obey the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. 5:19 And through the power of the Holy Spirit resist the desires of the flesh. 6:1 We are also called to help restore fellow believers who have stumbled in the flesh. 6:6 We are all ministers of the Word of God and the Gospel of Christ. 6:10 While we have time let us do good unto all men. 6:12 And do not do as those who make a false showing in the flesh. 6:13 For they glory in the manipulations of the flesh and not in the Cross of Christ as they should. 1:1 Opening salutation and grace from God the Father and Christ Jesus. 1:5 Who has predestined us to be adopted into the family of God by Jesus Christ Himself. 1:7 From whom man’s salvation naturally flows, and by whom we have redemption from sin. 1:20 Which God wrote in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and placed Him at His right hand.
Galatians Chapter 5 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 5:2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 5:3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5:5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. 5:7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 5:8 This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 5:10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. 5:11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 5:12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 5:21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 5:23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 5:24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 5:26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians Chapter 6 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 6:3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 6:4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 6:5 For each one shall bear his own load. 6:6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 6:8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. 6:11 See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand 6:12 As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. 6:13 For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. 6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. 6:17 From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. 6:18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Ephesians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus: 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 1:5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 1:8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 1:9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth-in Him. 1:11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 1:12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 1:14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. 1:15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 1:16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 1:20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 1:21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 1:23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Summary Verses 3:1 Paul rebukes the Galatians for allowing themselves to be fooled, bewitched as he put it. From the grace of Christ to the Law of works and death. 3:6 Paul then gives them the example of Abraham who believed God by faith and it was counted to him as righteousness. 3:21 Paul explains to them that the Law of God is perfect and righteous and therefore it all the more shows mankind their need for a savior and was not meant to justify mankind in the flesh. 4:1 Paul goes on to explain we through Christ have been delivered from the bondage of the Law. 4:4 That Jesus came to redeem us back to God from the guilt of the law. 4:9 It is then absurd, foolish to turn to the law which cannot give life, but death. 4:13 Therefore Paul calls them again to the purity of the Gospel of Christ which is grace through faith in Him. 4:21 Paul goes on to give them an allegory using Jacob’s two sons, one born after the flesh who represents the law and one born after the spirit which represents grace.
Galatians Chapter 3 3:1 O foolish Galatians Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? 3:4 Have you suffered so many things in vain-if indeed it was in vain? 3:5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3:6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 3:7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 3:8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 3:9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 3:12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 3:15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. 3:17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. 3:18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 3:19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 3:20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 3:25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 3:29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians Chapter 4 4:1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 4:2 but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 4:5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father” 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. 4:8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. 4:9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 4:10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. 4:11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain. 4:12 Brethren, I urge you to become like me, for I became like you. You have not injured me at all. 4:13 You know that because of physical infirmity I preached the gospel to you at the first. 4:14 And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. 4:15 What then was the blessing you enjoyed? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. 4:16 Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? 4:17 They zealously court you, but for no good; yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them. 4:18 But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you. 4:19 My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you, 4:20 I would like to be present with you now and to change my tone; for I have doubts about you. 4:21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 4:22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 4:24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar 4:25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children– 4:26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother. 4:27 For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband.” 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 4:29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 4:30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
Summary Verses 12:1 Paul for the sake of the Corinthians rehearses his experiences as a Christian. 12:3 Paul also speaks of the time he was taken up and saw heaven. 12:4 And the things revealed to him which mankind cannot understand. 12:6 Paul explains that he glory in these more than the false teachers; however he has not. Our faith is about Jesus not ourselves. 12:10 Therefore Paul takes pleasure in his own infirmities and reproaches because for Christ’s sake when he is weak Jesus is strong. 12:20 Paul rebukes them that pride, backbiting, contention, whisperings and discord should not be known among believers. 13:1 This was the third time Paul had to come before the Corinthians for correction. 13:2 Paul exhorts them to their strength through Christ Jesus and the power of Jesus in his Apostleship. 13:7 Paul prays for their repentance. 13:11 Paul exhorts them to live in peace, be of one mind and the love of God be with them. 1:1 Paul greets the Galatians. 1:6 Paul rebukes them for moving away from the Gospel of Christ so quickly by false teachers. 1:15 For this is the Gospel he received from God Himself. 1:17 Paul committed it to the Galatians before speaking with any other Apostles. 2:1 And that the Apostles were in agreement with Paul having received the same Gospel from Jesus Himself. 2:3 The Galatians being fooled by false teachers into the Law, points out that even Titus who was with Paul was uncircumcised. 2:11 He also recounts how he withstood Peter to his face when Peter tried to abide by the dietary law for show. 2:17 Paul explains that we have been made free by Christ.
2nd Corinthians Chapter 12 12:1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: 12:2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago-whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows-such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 12:3 And I know such a man-whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows 12:4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 12:5 Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. 12:6 For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me. 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 12:8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 12:11 I have become a fool in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing. 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds. 12:13 For what is it in which you were inferior to other churches, except that I myself was not burdensome to you? Forgive me this wrong 12:14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. 12:15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved. 12:16 But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning 12:17 Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you? 12:18 I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps? 12:19 Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification. 12:20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; 12:21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
2nd Corinthians Chapter 13 13:1 This will be the third time I am coming to you. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” 13:2 I have told you before, and foretell as if I were present the second time, and now being absent I write to those who have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare 13:3 since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you. 13:4 For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you. 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you are disqualified. 13:6 But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified. 13:7 Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though we may seem disqualified. 13:8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 13:9 For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. And this also we pray, that you may be made complete. 13:10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction. 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 13:12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. 13:13 All the saints greet you. 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
Galatians Chapter 1 1:1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), 1:2 and all the brethren who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 1:5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. 1:6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 1:7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. 1:11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 1:12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1:13 For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. 1:14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, 1:16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 1:17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days. 1:19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother. 1:20 (Now concerning the things which I write to you, indeed, before God, I do not lie.) 1:21 Afterward I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. 1:22 And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ. 1:23 But they were hearing only, “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.” 1:24 And they glorified God in me.
Galatians Chapter 2 2:1 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. 2:2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. 2:3 Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. 2:4 And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), 2:5 to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. 2:6 But from those who seemed to be something-whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man-for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. 2:7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter 2:8 (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), 2:9 and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 2:10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. 2:11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 2:12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. 2:13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. 2:14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? 2:15 “We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 2:16 “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. 2:17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not 2:18 “For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 2:19 “For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
